Jubal Trio

The Jubal Trio Wien was founded in 1997 and concentrates on original works for flute, cello and piano, ranging from classical to contemporary music.

The combination of flute, cello and piano has its special flair:

on the one hand, these individual sound qualities are merging homogeneously, on the other hand, they inspire each other by their different ways of playing and enter into a stimulating dialogue with each other.

This is also the reason why the trio was named after JUBAL who is known as the progenitor of all flute and string players in the Old Testament (Moses I/IV).

Since the tones are being produced in very different ways, the three lady musicians have been able to interpret the compositions in a creative way.

The repertoire includes compositions by J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart, J. N. Hummel, C. M. v. Weber, B. Martinu, N. Rorem, J. Francaix, K. Huber and G. Crumb, among others. Additional interesting focuses have been realized by the cooperation with singers, actors and other instruments, as well as by the performance of the Triple Concerto (for trio and orchestra) by V. d’Indy.

The ensemble has played numerous concerts in Austria, in other European countries, as well as in Japan, Taiwan and Mexico. During the past few years, CDs with the works by Haydn, Mozart, Hummel, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Weber, Pierné and Martinu have been recorded by the labels Camerata Tokyo, Discover and Gramola.
